Acting Premier Andrew Stoner has confirmed that the film adaptation of John Milton’s 'Paradise Lost' will be shot in Sydney, bringing in an estimated $88 million to the city.

The top Australian official asserted that the move to lure the English poet’s 1667 classic poem of 10,000 lines to be filmed in Sydney, a city in New South Wales is congruent to the state’s objective to strengthen its film industry.

“This is a major coup for our state,” Mr. Stoner was quoted as telling reporters at Fox Studios by the Australian Associated Press, as cited by the Sydney Morning Herald.

The official emphasized that Australia beat out rival locations for the film adaptation. Other location considered for the film production include great places in the United States and Canada.

Mr. Stoner said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald: “With fierce competition from rival locations in the United States and Canada, there is no doubt securing 'Paradise Lost' is a major win for the NSW film industry.”

“Had we not done this, it would have been opportunity lost, not "Paradise Lost,” he added.

Paradise Lost features French-speaking Hollywood hunk, Bradley Cooper who also starred in other box-office hits including “The Hangover”, “Limitless” and "The A-Team."
