Blaming the current James Bond, Daniel Craig, on the rumours about him starring in the “James Bond” franchise, Idris Elba slammed the ongoing speculation at an event at London’s British Film Institute. The “Pacific Rim” star revealed that there is no talks that happened with Bond producers and recalled that Craig hinted four years ago that he could be the next 007.

“Daniel Craig actually set the rumor off. About four years ago he said, ‘Idris Elba would be a great Bond,’” said Elba in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I blame Daniel. Honestly, it’s a rumor that’s really starting to eat itself. If there was ever any chance of me getting Bond, it’s gone."

It was only last year that Elba revealed that if the role were offered to him, he’d “absolutely” take it. But thanks to the endless speculation of the media, he believed that his chance of getting the role is getting too thin now since it’s already been too overhyped.

The 42-year-old actor recently wrapped up BBC One Miniseries “Luther” Season 4 and he even stripped in front of the camera after he officially wrapped the show. The upcoming show is set to premiere later this year with Elba playing the Maverick detective, as seen from the video where he was taking his clothes off.

It was announced last year that “Luther” is going to be remade in the U.S. and would return with two special episodes in 2015. With Elba reprising his role as a brilliant but impulsive detective, the show’s two-part special teases that Luther will be haunted by the ghosts from his past and “hell-bent on retribution.”

The show also stars “Game of Thrones” actors Rose Leslie and Patrick Malahide, “Fortitude’s” Darren Boyd and “The Inbetweeners” actress Laura Haddock.

Meanwhile, the “Thor” star salutes to Kanye West for being a visionary as he acknowledged Britain’s rap artists -- Skepta, Novelist and Stormzy -- on the Brit Awards stage. With Kanye bringing those unknown artists on stage is a big deal in an industry full of aspiring rappers struggling to be heard.
