Two new preview pictures of “Outlander” season 3 have been released online. The first picture is that of Claire (Caitriona Balfe) attending a party with husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) and her daughter, and the second picture gives a first look at the new character Lord John Grey (David Berry).

Ahead of the San Diego Comic-Con, Entertainment Weekly got two exclusive pictures of next season. The picture of Claire shows a rare moment where she is enjoying an evening at a social gathering with her husband Frank and her daughter Brianna. The flashback sequence for the Sassenach will jump multiple timelines, as the show takes viewers through the long period of time.

Claire’s journey next year will begin with her arrival in the US. Viewers get to see how she lived with only the memories of Jamie (Sam Heughan). She will make new friends, though, as she tries to focus her mind on training to be a doctor.

The other picture released online is that of Aussie actor David Berry as Lord John Grey, one of the biggest new characters being introduced this year. The British officer is in charge of Ardsmuir Prison, a fictional fortress located in north Scotland.

The dynamic between Jamie and Lord John will be interesting to watch this year. The Scotsman, too, will be in pain after being separated from Claire, but circumstances force him into another a leadership position, in which he is responsible for others once again.

There will be an eventual reunion of Jamie and Claire in “Outlander” season 3. However, Balfe warned that while her character had time to mentally prepare for the meeting, Heughan’s character is in for a shock. This is one of the most highly anticipated scenes this year, and the actress said it was important for them to get the tone right.
