'Outlander' season 3: Sam Heughan responds to funny meme of Jamie and Claire

The “Outlander” season 3 release date announcement, which was accompanied by a trailer, came as a big Droughtlander fix for fans waiting for a long time. But the wait till September is a long one. What can fans do in the meantime? Create more memes of the show, of course! Now, one particular meme caught the attention of Sam Heughan.

The poster recently released by Starz shows Heughan (Jamie) leaning on the magical stone at Craigh Na Dun on one side, while Caitriona Balfe (Claire) leans on the other side. The picture teases the pain and longing the two characters feel.

One fan took the picture and added a twist, Photoshopping to put Claire behind Jamie with keen interest in his butt. The meme quickly caught the attention of the fandom, and as of writing, it has over 6,000 likes and 900 retweets.

The meme reached Heughan, too. The actor responded to the picture and jokingly remarked that he doesn’t remember taking this shot. The fans thoroughly enjoyed the talent of one of their own, and there are over 400 comments to the post.

Starz also released a behind-the-scenes picture that shows filming of this specific scene. The picture was posted on the official Instagram page of the show and can be seen below. Filming of the TV series has already wrapped, and the cast members are expected to begin promotion for the new season soon.

A panel from the show, which includes the cast members and the producers, is heading to the San Diego Comic-Con. More details about “Outlander” season 3 may be shared at the panel discussion at this event, which will be held on July 21. Since teasers have already been released, the event is a good opportunity to show a full trailer.
