Filming of “Outlander” season 3 has been ongoing for a while, but it is only now that the script for the last episode has been completed. Co-executive producer and writer Matthew B. Roberts announced the completion of the script, and now the editing process begins.

Roberts has already written “Fade Out,” used to end the last scene, marking the end of a screenplay. He stated that he will now begin the arduous work of editing the script. This, he said, may take a long time, thus he asked fans to wish him luck.

Support poured in from the fandom in the form of comments to Roberts’ post. The fans are eagerly waiting for the show to return, but what is equally important is for the team to get the scenes absolutely right. The fans expressed confidence in the producer/writer and wished him luck. The also expressed their excitement to learn that the scriptwriting process is finally complete.

Some fans did not understand what Roberts actually meant in the post. Author Diana Gabaldon stepped in by explaining that the “Outlander” season 3 script is finally complete.

The finale episode of the next season was written by Roberts and Toni Graphia. The plot this year is based on Gabaldon’s book “Voyager,” but the writers were busy reading “Drums of Autumn,” too. This suggests that the show could have interesting reveals for the fans, with elements of the next book being incorporated into the storyline to make it more seamless.

The show has already made a change from the book by including the actual fight scenes from the Battle of Culloden, something the fans don’t get to read in “Voyager.” So this year's season will surprise those who have read the book but not followed the news on the series closely.

The finales of both the first two seasons ended with viewers in tears, wanting to see what happens next. Roberts had previously promised a “spine-tingling” end this time around, and the team is reportedly trying things that are never done before.

Meanwhile, filming of “Outlander” season 3 continues in Cape Town, South Africa. Cast member Caitriona Balfe (Claire) shared a picture she took from the set. The team is working in sunny weather with clear blue skies.
