The Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow) will also attend the dinner. The young prince can be seen remarking to Jamie that that night could mark a turning point for the rebellion.

The video has been titled “friends, foes and frenemies,” suggesting that the characters Jamie and Claire will meet this season will be complex characters, who can’t be categorized as either pure good or evil. Heughan teased that the characters that they meet in this season are “very large” and “very powerful.”

Executive producer Ronald D. Moore pointed out that Claire and Jamie will have to pretend to be wealthy wine merchants in “Outlander” Season 2. “That’s their cover story,” the producer explained. The couple will have to be accepted at the French court and rub shoulders with the aristocrats.

Balfe said that unlike in Scotland, where her character was in “fight or flight” mode, in France she will spend a lot of time visiting parlour rooms, drinking tea and gossiping. Heughan pointed out that the couple will need to ascertain who is a friend and who is an enemy and the lines are always blurred in France. Balfe said that the couple will have to figure out who supports whom.

The main villain in “Outlander” Season 2 is Comte St. Germain (Stanley Weber). The Frasers become his enemies very quickly and the villain promises to make them pay. Weber said that his character has no limits as such and is ready to kill in order to make his way to the top.
