Oprah Winfrey achieved a recent 20kg weight loss. The queen of talk show revealed how she did it and what motivated her for losing weight.

On CBS' “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Winfrey shared that she joined the Weight Watchers program last year. From then on, she has viewed the program as “a lifestyle, a way of eating and way of living that's so freeing.”

Winfrey also told Weight Watchers magazine that she is now following a more relaxed approach when it comes to her diet. “I can honestly tell you I struggle no more. I can have everything I love Taco’s, bread and pasta. I’ve never felt deprived,” Winfrey said. She further shared that she pushed herself to reach a “magic number” on the scales. She is now taking a holistic approach and it apparently benefits her.

The weight loss struggles of Winfrey is one of the most followed journeys in the entertainment industry since she rose to fame more than 30 years ago. Even the TV host and business mogul herself documented her up-and-down weight battles in a 1988 episode of her show. Some fans may recall that she wheeled a carton full of fat on stage as an illustration of how much weight she had lost.

Winfrey serves as an inspiration for many, especially for those whose New Year’s resolutions include losing weight. She said this time around, she’ll lose weight not for a specific event or outfit in size, but to focus on the health benefits.

“This time I changed the intention to, ‘I want to be the healthiest I can be — physically, emotionally, spiritually.’ So the process and purpose of losing shifted for me. It was easier, because my intention was clearer,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Weight Watchers shares soar after Winfrey’s impressive weight loss according to USA Today. Winfrey joined the system in the summer of 2015. In mid-October last year, she publicly announced her $43 million investment for a 10 percent share of the company.
