Microsoft's Nokia Lumia 635 (4G) has recently been released in many countries across the globe, whereas Motorola's Moto G is one of the highest selling smartphones for the company. The original version of Moto G was released in the last quarter of 2013. However, Motorola released a 4G version of Moto G in May 2014.

Both the phones are budget-friendly and they pack amazing features, and impressive hardware/software performances. Nokia Lumia 935 is touted as the real competition for the hot-favorite Moto G. Readers who are interested in purchasing the Moto G 4G variant or the latest Nokia Lumia 635 should check out this specification and price comparison.

Display, Exterior and Size

Both the phones feature 4.5 inches IPS LCD display, the difference comes in the form of resolution and pixel density. The Moto G comes with 720 x 1,280 pixels screen resolution and 326 ppi pixel density, whereas the Lumia 635 comes with relatively lesser 480 x 854 pixels screen resolution and 218 ppi pixel strength.

The Moto G boasts of sharp HD display that stretches from edge-to-edge to all corners of the handset. In addition, the Motorola handset has a plastic body. The Nokia Lumia 635, meanwhile, stands out for the bright and vivid colours that Nokia handsets are known for. Also, the back panel of the handset is made of plastic material that bends around to touch the front side of the phone, according to CNet.

For extra protection, Moto G (4G) comes with a water-resistant coating protecting the phone inside and outside. It is worth noting that, the protection is just a coating and hence there is no IP67 certification.

The thickness and the weight of Moto G are 0.46 inches and 143 g respectively, whereas the Lumia 635 is 0.36 inches thick and weighs 134 g. Even though the Moto G is quite bulky, the curved design makes it easier to hold when compared to the rectangular design of Lumia handset. In addition, both the handsets feature removable back panels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Hardware, Software and Memory

Interestingly, both Moto G and Lumia 635 are powered by quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. Also, the Moto G runs on Android OS v4.4.2 (KitKat), which is upgradable to v4.4.3 (KitKat), while the Nokia Lumia 635 runs on the latest Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

The Moto G 4G variant comes with 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage with microSD slot for expansion up to 32 GB, whereas the Lumia 635 offers only 8 GB of internal storage but it supports microSD card for expansion up to 128 GB. It is worth noting that, Moto G 2013 model does not come with microSD slot.

Camera and Battery

Both the devices sport 5 MP rear-facing camera units. While the main camera of Moto G provides LED flash support, the Lumia 635 doesn't. In addition, the Moto G comes with a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, while the Lumia 635 does not feature a front-facing snapper at all. The Moto G houses a good non-removable Li-Ion 2070 mAh battery unit while the Lumia 635 houses a user-replaceable 1830 mAh battery unit.
