Finnish manufacturer Nokia will be releasing the 41MP Nokia Lumia 1020 soon to compete in the market sales with other smartphones coming from rival companies like Samsung. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy S4 enjoys success but can Nokia take away the crown from the best-selling Android smartphone?

Nokia's obvious selling point on the Lumia 1020 is the 41MP PureView camera compared to the 13MP shooter found on the Samsung Galaxy S4. However, the Galaxy S4 remains competitive because the smartphone can also capture 1080p videos at 30fps just like the Lumia 1020.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 boasts with the Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, Xenon flash, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), 1.2MP front-facing camera and camera features on capturing and editing like Cinemagraph, Creative Studio and the Nokia Smart Cam. Though the Galaxy S4 lacks Xenon flash, the smartphone offers the 2MP front-facing camera, LED flash as well as HDR, Panorama and "Sound&Shot" as the camera's shooting modes.

Samsung packed the Galaxy S4 with a 1.9GHz qua-core Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM while the Nokia Lumia 1020 has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. In terms of screen size, Samsung offers a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen display with 1920x1080p resolution with 441ppi pixel density against the 4.5-inch screen display of the Nokia Lumia 1020 with 1280x768p resolution and 334ppi.

The Lumia 1020 utilizes the Gorilla Glass 3 to make the device scratch resistant plus the PureMotion HD+ technology that will allow users to see more clearly in sunlight, remove motion blur and touch the screen with the fingernails or while wearing hand gloves.

With battery capacity, the Samsung Galaxy S4 can provide more with the 2600mAh than the 200mAh battery in the Nokia Lumia 1020. A camera grip case for the Lumia 1020 with 1000mAh battery can supply more battery life to increase its performance.

According to Nokia, the Lumia 1020 battery can handle up to 13.3 hours of talk time over 3G, up to 63 hours of music playback, up to 6.8 hours of video playback and up to 5.5 hours of browsing time using Wi-Fi connection. The Samsung Galaxy S4 battery allows up to 17 hours of talk time over 3G and up to 62 hours of music playback.

Storage capacity is another important feature that consumers take into consideration. Nokia only incorporated 32GB of internal storage capacity in the Lumia 1020 without the microSD card slot to increase the memory storage of the device while Samsung Galaxy S4 allows consumers to choose from the available storage capacities of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB with a microSD card slot to further expand memory storage.

In terms of smartphone body design, the Samsung Galaxy S4 looks a little less stylish than the Nokia Lumia 1020 with its plastic body with the metallic rim all over the edge. The Gorilla Glass 3 screen gives the Galaxy S4 enough protection against knocks and bumps.

Nokia engineered well the Lumia 1020 smartphone with its solid polycarbonate shell and remarkably thin design despite the inclusion of the bulky 41MP camera with six-lens optics. The Nokia Lumia 1020 has a resemblance to the appearance of the Nokia Lumia 920 but with the colourful polycarbonate body instead of the classy metal edges.
