Even though Miss Universe 1999 1st Runner-up Miriam Quiambao is definitely not a virgin, having been married once to an Italian man, for her second marriage to a Filipino businessman, the couple have taken a vow of purity. Her fiancé, Ardy Roberto, is a widower.

With their list of 4 things they can show their love and affection for one another before they get married framed as guide, the beauty queen insisted they could stick with their no premarital sex promise through God's help.

The vow states that she and Ardy would only express their affection by a kiss on the cheek, holding hands, hugging or placing a hand over the shoulder. They promised not to engage in acts that could "ignite sexual desires or passions prematurely such as passionate kissing (lips-to-lips), pheromone sniffing or foreplay."

The 38-year-old physical therapy graduate-turned beauty queen and actress explained that the agreement is a sign of their respect and commitment to each other and as part of their preparation for their wedding in 2014. The couple announced their engagement in the first week of October.

Taking such kind of a vow is not surprising for the couple since Ardy, besides being a businessman and author, is also a leader of a Christian group. Such kinds of groups usually believe in the concept of secondary virginity wherein someone who have had prior sexual experience could still save his or her body as a gift to his or her spouse after they get married.

Couples participate in a military mass wedding ceremony in Taipei. October 18, 2013.

Ardy's first wife, Margot Roberto, died of lupus in January 2013.

The couple attracted public notice because Roberto is not a matinee idol when it comes to his looks, but his Christian community jokingly refers to him as Mr Pogi (Handsome), which is what is written in their vow of purity. In contrast, Miriam's first husband looked like a Hollywood actor.
