Nina Dobrev and ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder wraps up the final ‘Damon and Elena’ scene with goofy photos taken during the last week of filming the sixth season of The Vampire Diaries. The brunette star was all smiles with Somerhalder despite her departure from CW’s hit TV show, The Vampire Diaries.

Nina Dobrev posted a photo on Instagram on April 24th showcasing two Polaroid photos of her with ex-boyfriend and The Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder. The first one showed a smiling photo of the two while the second showed both of them making goofy faces at the camera. Dobrev then captioned the photo, “#FBF to last week with @IanSomerhalder shooting our final "Damon and Elena" scene. #TVDFamily #PolaroidSeries.”

The ex-couple dated for three years before their split-up back in May 2013. Afterwards, Dobrev briefly dated Derek Hough of Dancing With the Stars. Ian Somerhalder, on the other hand, got engaged with Twilight’s Nikki Reed after six months of whirlwind romance. Since the split-up, rumours about a reunion between Dobrev and Somerhalder have been surfacing and resurfacing but never confirmed. It was also said that Dobrev might be leaving the show due to her incapability of working with her ex-boyfriend. However, Nina Dobrev denied this accusation.

News about Nina Dobrev leaving the show surfaced when the lead star failed to sign the contract for the next season of The Vampire Diaries. Earlier this month, Dobrev confirmed that she is, in fact, leaving the show. Dobrev uploaded a photo on Instagram with a heartfelt message showing her gratitude to her TVD family and to her fans.

In the message, Nina Dobrev revealed that she has always “wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure.” She is grateful for the seven-year journey that began when she auditioned in LA for “that Twilight TV show.” But now, she is ready to say goodbye to Elena Gilbert as she moves on to the next chapter of her life.

Nina Dobrev is slowly saying goodbye to her TVD crew and fandom as The Vampire Diaries is close to its season finale coming this May. Although her silly photos with ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder might once again spark up reunion rumours, it could be no more than a form of goodbye to her leading man as she steps out of The Vampire Diaries scene.
