The Nexus 7 tablet was unveiled at the Google I/O event in 2012 and it successfully turned out to be one of the best Android tablet options in the technology market.

Now, Google will reportedly launch the Nexus 7 successor powered with a Qualcomm processor that supports 4G LTE on May 2013 in San Francisco, California.

Google and Asus utilized the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor on the Nexus 7 tablet. However, the Qualcomm processor will now be incorporated in the Nexus 7 tablet successor instead of the NVIDIA Tegra processor according to the Digitimes report.

It currently appears Google and Asus have determined that NVIDIA's new Tegra 4i chip with the 4G LTE integration will not be able to meet the production schedule of the new Nexus tablet unlike Qualcomm's firm integration with the 4G LTE radios.

Other reports claim that the Nexus 7 tablet successor will be equipped with the Snapdragon S4 Pro Qualcomm processor which is the company's most recent quad-core chip. Though Qualcomm announced other quad-core processors such as Snapdragon 600 and Snapdragon 800, the production on the new Nexus tablet will most likely opt for the Snapdragon S4 Pro for a cost-cutting approach.

Previous Nexus 7 tablet successor reports point to a Full HD 1920x1080p screen display which is an enhancement from the 1280x800p screen display of the current Nexus 7 tablet.

The much anticipated Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is expected to be incorporated in the next-generation Nexus 7 tablet. The launch of the latest Android operating system is scheduled to happen as well at the May 2013 Google I/O event.
