Motorola has announced the availability plan of the recently unveiled killer smartphone Nexus 6. Reportedly, the Nexus 6 can be availed from 28 countries. This includes North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, to name a few. The release date pertaining to the U.S. market is slated for November 12 and the pre-order window starts on October 29. Upon release, the smartphone can be purchased from four major carriers in the U.S. viz. AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile. Additionally, the device can also be availed from Best Buy and Google Play.

The release date outside the U.S. territory is not designated yet, but Motorola has assured that the new device will hit the store shelves before 2014 end. The Nexus 6 comes in Midnight Blue and Cloud White hues and will set the buyers back by $649 (roughly translates to AU$741) in the U.S. Furthermore, the European pricing details pertaining to the handset via German retailers Media Markt and Saturn are out. Reportedly, the 32 GB Nexus 6 variant is priced at 569 euros and the 64 GB model can be purchased 649 euros, according to GSM Arena.

When it comes to key specifications, the Nexus 6 features a humongous 5.9-inch AMOLED display along with a killer Quad HD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The device has trumped all other high-end Snapdragon-powered devices by offering a super-powerful processor. The handset runs on the latest quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) Krait 450 processor, which is clocked at 2.7 GHz and uses Adreno 420 GPU. The Nexus 6 is backed by a generous 3 GB of RAM and the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Speaking of memory, the smartphone offers 32 GB and 64 GB of in-built storage space. As usual, there is no expandable memory option. Skipping the 16 GB variant and providing a choice of 32/64 GBs, in order to compensate for the lack of microSD card is a master-stroke by Google and Motorola. Moreover, there is a 13 MP rear-facing camera unit with dual-LED flash, 4K video capture and optical image stabilization. On battery configuration, the latest handset comes equipped with a solid 3220 mAh unit. The battery has the capacity to provide 24 hours of talk time and 330 hours of stand-by time. Plus, the device supports NFC and 4G LTE.

It is worth noting that, even though the Nexus 6 is not certified to be water-resistant, the handset can withstand water splashes i.e. a basic level of protection is assured. Like the Moto X, the Nexus 6 users need not worry about accidental water splashes and the device can be used in light rain. However, readers should note that dropping the device in a tub of water/liquid in the name of testing the device would damage the handset permanently, says Phone Arena.
