The new "Facebook Home App" launch is reportedly scheduled on April 12, 2013 with only five devices compatible. MoDaCo contradicts the claim with a leaked pre-released version of the Facebook launcher that can work after installation on a variety of devices including the Google Nexus 4 smart phone and Google Nexus 7 tablet.

Facebook did not initially mention the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 in the list of supported devices but MoDaCo provided the pre-released version of the "Facebook Home App" and even made it available at the Mega Cloud storage service for free. It turns out the leaked application functions well with the Google devices.

The "Facebook Home App" will work well with Android devices with a 1280x720p resolution and the deletion of any current Facebook apps. Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 owners are required to manually install for approximately 5 minutes the three Android programs so the Home beta app will function properly.

Once the installation process is done, the users can now make the Facebook Home a default application to be launched when the home button on the Android device is pressed. However, there are still a couple of warnings that users need to watch out for.

Since it is a leaked pre-release, a certain amount of instability in the application is anticipated therefore installation of the software will be done at own risk. The "Facebook Home's Chat Heads" feature is not working or supported yet. The maximum resolution required is 1280x768p.

It seems Facebook found out about the pre-released version of the Facebook Home App and may have already blocked the server access. "Facebook Home update: It looks like Facebook turned something off server side. Only a black screen is showing in the app now. Killjoys! :(" MoDaCo's Paul O'Brien posted on his Twitter account @PaulOBrien.
