The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is bringing its online catch-up service, ABC iView to Microsoft's Xbox LIVE platform.

Xbox 360 users can now catch-up on programs like Upstairs Downstairs and Bananas in Pyjamas. Kinect owners can now search programs using Microsoft's latest Xbox update that allows users to browse and select programs using voice commands. The ABC iView app will let users watch the ABC lineup of news, children's programming, dramas and documentaries.

"We have a wonderful slate of programming for 2012, and through ABC iView, it will be the most accessible content in the country. ABC TV has led the way in delivering content across an array of platforms and devices and now our audience will have greater access to iview streamed into their own homes, on their own TV screens available to watch whenever they want," Kim Dalton, the director of ABC Television said.

The ABC iView app requires an Xbox LIVE subscription. Users are reminded that data usage charges may apply depending on their ISP.

Meanwhile, PS3 owners can look forward to getting the movie-streaming service Quickflix on their PS3 consoles. The free Quickflix app will be available for free on December 23, 2011 from the PlayStation Store. The app maybe free but viewing Quickflix's catalog of movies will require some cash.

Unlimited streaming subscriptions will cost AUD$15 per month. Users who are already signed up for Quickflix's DVD rental service can add movie streaming to their account for a reduced monthly fee. For those enrolled with Quickflix's Light plan, movie streaming will cost an additional AUD$14 every month while Basic users will need to add AUD$8 monthly. Regular and Ultimate subscribers will need to add AUD$7 to their monthly bill. PS3 owners will get a promo offer of reduced rates for Quickflix. The first three month's subscription will cost AUD$5 less and there will be two free Blu-ray rentals to sweeten the pot.
