V-Moda has released its new Crossfade 2 wireless headphones. The new model boasts larger cushions, longer battery life and a wide range of customisable color options.

The Crossfade 2 is said to be the world's first headphones to combine "jewel-grade" 3D printing with consumer electronics. Users can personalise their products with a wide range of 3D printing and 2D laser options.

The music device offers active noise isolation, background noise and extra pressure to the ears. These complement the wireless headphones' new V-ports. There are vents that help the Crossfade 2 circulate the air inside it to avoid overheating.

However, the model also offers a wired mode. This allows users to use the headphones in both wireless and wired modes. The device boasts to have met the high resolution audio standards set by the Japan Audio Society in its wired mode.

Users who want to achieve the full wired experience are recommended to use the hi-resolution CCAS coil that extends frequency responses to 5Hz to 40kHz. This means the model will offer better voices and bass.

Its rose gold model is the only variant that offers aptX codec support. This means music played in this variant will sound very close to its streaming source (such as a CD) compared to others. However, the Bluetooth source must also support the aptX codec to maximise the experience.

As per connections, the wireless headphones can be connected with a Bluetooth device as far as 10 metres. The voicing is also said to be the same regardless if the Crossfade 2 is used wirelessly or not.

The music device comes with V-Moda accessory compatibility. This means the Crossfade 2 can be customised with various accessories the company has released for its other music gadgets.

These include accessories such as extra large cushions, a BoomPro microphone, Speakeasy cables with one to three buttons and a CoilPro cable. These are good addition to users who want to do heavy-duty music editing or DJ-ing.

According to New Atlas, the Crossfade 2 is an upgrade to the original V-Moda Crossfade and the M-100. The newer model offers larger ear pad cushions with memory foams. The original Crossfade offered the memory foam pads as an optional accessory to replace its default foam pads. According to Tech Hive, the memory foam option is much more comfortable than the default foam pads.

The original Crossfade also came with a bulky carrying case. The newer model now comes with the CliqFold design that allows it to fold onto itself safely. This makes it fit into a small travel case.

However, both the Crossfade and the M-100 are cheaper than the newer model. The original Crossfade costs US$150 (AU$195) while the M-100 costs US$250 (AU$325).

Music fans can buy the Crossfade 2 wireless headphones for US$330 (AU$430). It is available in three variants: the matte black, the matte white and the rose gold versions. The latter costs US$350 (AU$456) due to its additional feature.
