Apple will be launching the much-awaited iPhone 6 models within two weeks. This will be followed by the introduction of a relatively thinner MacBook model. Nevertheless, the release date is expected to fall towards the end of 2014 or at some point in 2015.

Apparently, this information has cropped up from supply chain sources pertaining to Taiwan. The source also reportedly confirmed that the MacBook production has already begun in small quantities. Furthermore, Apple will stop making the 13-inch MacBook Pro model that comes without Retina display sometime towards the end of this year, according to MacRumors.

The reason for the delay in release of the 12-inch MacBook model can be attributed to the prolonged delays from Intel's end specific to Broadwell chipset. Therefore, the upcoming 12-inch MacBook variant will be released during late 2014 time frame or early 2015.

The upcoming 12-inch MacBook variant will reportedly come equipped with the much-loved Retina display. However, the aforementioned model could replace the current-generation MacBook Air model or be an additional variant of Apple's 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook models.

Earlier leaks pointed to a production commencement date of Q3 2014 for the 12-inch MacBook Air model and the same report also confirmed the assembler as Quanta Computer. In addition, the 12-inch MacBook Air model will look predominantly like the 11-inch and 13-inch variants. However, the difference comes in the form of featuring the Retina display, in addition to several internal component changes on the new model, claims the same report.

Nevertheless, this new report from Taiwan corroborates the already existing speculations on the display front. The credible and famous KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo opined that the new MacBook model will come with Retina display. This was followed by an affirmation from NPD Display Search on the same display feature.

Moreover, an unnamed user who is a regular in Chinese forums with a history of providing credible insider information claimed that the 12-inch MacBook Air model will come with a brand new cooling system. In addition, the upcoming model will be flaunting a buttonless trackpad arrangement.

Seemingly, Apple has shipped 4.41 million Mac units between the time frame of April and June 2014. This is a 7% improvement from the last quarter shipment report, says DigiTimes. Also, MacRumors opines that in case the new MacBook is slated for end of 2014 or early 2015 release, Apple might introduce the MacBook notebook in an event scheduled for October, after the unveiling of the iPhone 6 models in September.
