It looks like “Mortal Kombat X” will be getting new downloadable content, or DLC, sometime in 2016, after numerous teases from the game’s creator Ed Boon on Twitter. The new DLC for the game was first teased after a livestream of the violent fighting game ended with the mention that it was the end for “Kombat Pack 1,” implying that there would be more content in the future.

Warner Bros. Interactive and developer NetherRealm Studios stated that the new DLC would feature four new characters, more skins for existing characters and a brand new environment to fight in. The details of the four characters remain unknown, though GameSpot thinks one of the new characters might be Wolverine from the “X-Men” comics, since one of the silhouettes teased reportedly looks similar to the character.

IGN confirmed that fans would be getting the DLC in the first half of 2016, although no price has been given yet for the content. The first “Kombat Pack” cost $29.99 and featured four new characters, including Predator and Jason Vorhees, along with “Mortal Kombat” mainstays Tanya and Tremor.

Ever since “Mortal Kombat 9” introduced characters like Kratos and Freddy Kreuger to the roster, it seems like the series will now be home to many guest stars. Image Comics founder Todd McFarlane has said that he would love to see his comic creation “Spawn” in “Mortal Kombat X,” which could lead to him being in the second “Kombat Pack."

“Mortal Kombat X” was recently cancelled for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, after numerous delays in the last-gen version’s development. While the news is disappointing for those with last-gen consoles, this does give NetherRealm more time to work on the new DLC characters.

Fans can purchase “Mortal Kombat X” right now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Windows PC. There’s also a version of the game for both iOS and Android, although it’s much simpler to play than the console versions of the game. The console version of the game has been praised by critics and fans alike for its graphics, combat system, roster size and sheer brutality.
