Good news for “Neighbours” fans: the long-running Aussie soap will be back on the small screen on Jan. 9. It’s certainly going to be one exciting week at Ramsay Street as surprising twists and turns come into play on the upcoming episodes of “Neighbours.”

This week, Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey) opens the year with a stunning announcement, revealing to Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) that she’s pregnant. She, however, is in for a bigger surprise when she learns the truth about Toadie’s ex-wife. The Jan. 9 to 13 episodes of “Neighbours” will also centre on Tyler Brennan (Travis Burns) and Piper Willis (Mavournee Hazel), who have rekindled their romance. The couple faces quite a tumultuous week as not everyone is happy that they got back together.

Digital Spy reports that Monday’s episode also shows Sonya and Toadie struggling to tell Stephanie Scully (Carla Bonner) and Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor) that the surrogacy procedure has been successful. Meanwhile, Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou) discovers that Piper and Tyler have reunited and imposes a devastating rule. Elsewhere, Paige Smith (Olympia Valance) appears to be missing Jack Callahan (Andrew Morley) and does something unthinkable.

On Tuesday, Sonya is shocked to find a photo of Toadie’s ex-wife, who apparently is still alive. Piper, on the other hand, makes an attempt to convince her parents to approve her relationship with Tyler, but things don’t go smoothly as planned.

Wednesday’s run centres on the tiff between Tyler and Brad Willis (Kip Gamblin) over Piper. Realising that Piper’s parents will always stand in the way of their relationship, the couple makes a life-changing decision. Elsewhere, Steph feels out of place when she sees the closeness between Mark and Sonya, while Amy Williams (Zoe Cramond), makes a shocking discovery about Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano).

The installment on Thursday focuses on Tyler and Piper, who run away together, leaving Brad and Terese extremely worried. Speaking of escape, Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta) makes plans to skip town before her dark past comes back to haunt her. Meanwhile, as Terese and Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) continue to furiously work together to get their tender finished, they grow closer than ever.

“Neighbours” wraps the week with an episode that features Sonya, who mulls over quitting her job as mayor because of her pregnancy. Seeing that his wife is becoming too attached to the baby, Toadie warns her that the child she’s carrying doesn’t belong to her. Xanthe Canning (Lilly Van Der Meer), on the other hand, tries to cheer up Gary Canning (Damien Richardson), but her plans backfire.

“Neighbours” also stars Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne), Sheila Canning (Colette Mann), Lauren Turner (Kate Kendall), Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson), Ben Ian Kirk (Felix Mallard) and David Tanaka (Takaya Honda).
