The New York Knicks are expected to announce Steve Kerr as their next head coach in the coming days, but president Phil Jackson and his protégé have still a lot to explore organizationally, according to CBS Sports.com Ken Berger.

"The Knicks are attempting to complete a deal that would make Steve Kerr the coach of the team after the first round of the playoffs, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com. In team president Phil Jackson's plan, Kerr would leave his job as a TNT broadcaster after the first round is complete, thus making it easier for the network, but it remains to be seen whether Kerr is willing to go along at this point."

The Warriors have also expressed interest in hiring Kerr as their next head coach, but the former Spurs and Bulls three-point marksman remains the favorite to be the head coach for the Knickerbockers, as reported by Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

"Kerr has been the front-runner for the job for at least a month, and while Kerr has been "inching closer" to the Knicks job," Frank Isola stated via Hoops Rumors.

"An earlier report indicated Kerr would have interest in talking to the Warriors if they wind up with a vacancy, but in spite of Golden State's apparent interest in Kerr, the Knicks remain the favorite to land him."
