Kevin Durant suffered a left hamstring strain in Oklahoma City Thunder’s most recent game, an injury that will put the star forward out for at 7 to 10 days, according to injury reports.

Durant played the first half of the Thunder vs Washington Wizards game last Tuesday but did not suit up in the second half. He had an MRI on Wednesday and the strain was considered minor, as the OKC franchise player will be out for just over a week.

As expected, Durant has been one of the best players to start the 2015-2016 NBA Season logging in 28.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game in eight outings so far this season.

Oklahoma City has a 5-3 win-loss record this season with wins against the Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs. The losses came against the Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors and Houston Rockets.

In the second game of the season, against the Magic, Durant dropped a season-high 43 points on 15-of-30 field goal shooting. His season low was the 14-point output against the Wizards but he played in just a single half. Durant has scored 22 points or more in the rest of the games.

Durant’s injury will be re-evaluated after a week and the injury is not related to his previous ones, including a foot injury that caused him to play just 27 of 82 regular season games in the 2014-2015 season.

Without Durant, OKC will look to rely more on Russell Westbrook, who averages 25.8 points, 7.5 rebounds 10.9 assists and 2.0 steals this season. Other players who are expected to step up in Durant’s absence are Dion Waiters, Kyle Singler and Anthony Morrow.
