Thanks to Unbox Therapy, there is no stopping the now-famous #BendTest and the newly cropped-up siblings like #CokeTest and #NutellaTest, to name a few. Starting with the Apple iPhone 6 Plus's #BendGate issue, device users are having a field day messing with the structural-flaw of the latest smartphones. The testing and in turn breaking of the devices are done not only by the tech bloggers and reviewers but also by the device users. Torture tests are becoming inevitable and here are two new tests with Coke and Nutella in tow and the scapegoat this time is not the Apple iPhone 6 but Sony's flagship Xperia Z3.

Of late, the surge in the flagship devices from various OEMs being subjected to new and experimental torture tests is skyrocketing. Meanwhile, we have reached a point where the handsets are being tested so as to record the device's breaking point on camera and get hits in YouTube. Ideally, the tests should be conducted to see if the handsets can survive everyday usage/routine. Owing to the fact that an average user will not deliberately try bending the newly purchased handset with all the force he or she can exert over the device. Keeping this in mind, the Coke and Nutella tests show normal and everyday usage than pointless destruction for the sake of breaking a device, as rightly pointed out by Phone Arena.

YouTube account holder Adrianisen has the habit of evaluating the latest devices that are marketed to be water-resistant. Instead of drowning the devices in water, he dunks them in Coca-Cola. And recently, he evaluated the killer flagship Sony Xperia Z3, which comes with IP68 certification and hence it is dust-proof and water-resistant when dunked in 1 meter of water for about 30 minutes.

To give him some credit, spilling Coca-Cola that is perennially part of a vast majority of refrigerators across the globe may not be a surprise. So is the case with dropping the handset in a tub of water or any form of liquid that can be blamed as an accidental fall. And hence, even though it is debatable, the Coca-Cola test is a real-world example.

Readers should note that Coca-Cola's destructive properties are well-known and hence the test result would clearly show if the dunked device is water-proof as advertised or not. To add extra bling, Adrianisen covered the Sony Xperia Z3 with the sticky and gooey chocolate spread from Nutella. This test is to simulate the handset being dropped in real-world scenario and also to evaluate the dust-proof rating of the handset.

Spoilers ahead: Based on the video clips, the Xperia Z3 survived both the tests like a pro. However, during the Nutella test, the sound system of the handset was jarred for some time. After prolonged usage, the Xperia Z3 was back with a bang. Here are the videos of the interesting evaluation: [Source - YouTube channel of Adrianisen]
