The Verizon exclusive, Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is available in the U.S. The smartphone is expected to ship globally by the end of 2015.

Shatterproof Display

The device sports a 5.4-inch Quad HD P-OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Droid Turbo 2 looks very much like the Moto X Pure Edition. But unlike the Moto X it features a flat back panel to incorporate the Qi and Powermat receivers.

The Droid Turbo 2 has been highlighted as the world’s first ever smartphone with shatterproof display. The ShatterShield is said to be flexible enough to withstand any shock or sudden impact. Hands on review by Android Central revealed that in spite of being dropped 24 times, the Droid Turbo 2 display did not shatter. However, a report in The Verge reports that the "shatterproof" screen is extremely sensitive to scratches.

Furthermore, the damage resistant phone can be fully customised at Motorola's own Moto Maker with a wide range of colours and back cover options including ballistic nylon and even a leather back.

Commendable Battery Life

The impressive battery life is another major highlight of the Droid Turbo 2. The gigantic 3760 mAh battery enables the phone to stay alive for 48 hours on a single charge. The Verge closely reviewed the handset and concluded that depending on the usage on an average the battery lasted for up to 40 hours.

Key specifications

The device is shipped with the top-notch Snapdragon 810 processor by Qualcomm and is available in 32 GB and 64 GB storage options. The device also comes packed with microSD card slot for up to a 2 TB of expandable storage.

Apart from slight camera improvements, the Snapdragon 810 chipset does not offer much performance enhancements over its predecessor. The device houses a 21MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera selfie camera unit. The new processor on board helps in faster double-twist gesture to launch the camera and a more accurate auto-focus.

Running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the device might get an upgrade to Marshmallow in the coming year. But there has been no official confirmation on the same, reports CNET. Priced at US$624 (AU$879), the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is exclusively available on Verizon.
