Verizon has introduced a brand new colour for the Motorola Moto X (2014) smartphone. The killer new colour has an interesting name dubbed "Football Leather" and it is red in colour. The moniker "Football Leather" connotes American football, as the handset's colour is very close to the football's colour.

However, this new colour is exclusive to Verizon. As far as the price goes, the Football Leather colour clad Moto X 2014 can be purchased for $119.99, complete with a $50 mail-in rebate, under a new two-year Verizon contract, according to GSM Arena.

When compared to the black base model of the Moto X, this special colour makes the handset $20 more expensive. Nonetheless, there is no change in the under-the-hood configuration. It is worth noting that the Moto X 2014 has already started receiving Google's latest OS Android v5.0 Lollipop software update over-the-air. Even though, the update is available only for the pure edition version of Moto X at this point, readers can check out the stunning look of the UI in the video clip attached below. As Droid-Life points out, "It's [Lollipop on Moto X's] incredibly speedy, responsive, and beautiful."

Moving on to the key specifications, the Moto X provides stock Android experience on a 5.2-inch AMOLED display packed with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. The handset is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz and comes equipped with a good 2 GB of RAM. Moreover, the device is backed by a 2,300 mAh battery unit with 16 GB and 32 GB of internal storage options. However, there is no microSD card support for further expansion. Speaking of camera, there is a solid 13 MP rear-facing camera, in addition to a 2 MP selfie shooter at the front. Apart from the standard connectivity options, the phone also supports NFC. Notably, the Moto X 2014 comes with water-resistant coating. Therefore, the phone can endure accidental water spills.
