The next-generation Motorola Moto G 2014 has just been released with upgraded specifications, whereas the Nokia XL was released in May. Readers who are interested in the inexpensive Nokia XL or the budget-friendly and well-specced Moto G 2014 should check out this comparison of specification, features and price.

Display, Exterior And Size

Both the phones feature the same 5.0-inch IPS LCD display. However, the screen resolutions of the Moto G and the Nokia XL stand 720 x 1,280 pixels and 480 x 800 pixels respectively. Also, the pixel densities of the Motorola and the Nokia devices stand at 294 ppi and 187 ppi, respectively.

When it comes to design, the 2014 Moto G model shares the same exterior look of the 2013 Moto G; however, the size of the handset differs. The company has utilised the same plastic material in addition to the same customisable back panel option seen in the predecessor. Nonetheless, the quality of the build material has improved tremendously, making 2014 model a worthy successor to the 2013 version, reports Phone Arena. Meanwhile, the Nokia XL resembles the original Nokia X handset maintaining the same plastic body. However, the smartphone is quite hefty. At 190 g, the Nokia XL is relatively heavier than many other budget-friendly smartphones available in the market. The silver lining, however, is that the construction quality is commendable. Moreover, the device's finish can be compared to the high-end Nokia handsets and there are no rough corners.

The Motorola device houses 1 GB of RAM, while the Nokia XL houses only 768 MB of RAM. While the Moto G runs on Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS (upgradable to v5.0 Android L), the Nokia XL runs on Nokia X 1.0 UI on top of Android OS v4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

As far as the memory goes, the Moto G comes equipped with 8 GB and 16 GB of internal storage capacity, whereas the Nokia XL settles for a meagre 4 GB. However, both the handsets support microSD card for expansion up to 32 GB. Notably, Motorola unveiled the Moto G (4G LTE) model in the early 2014 with microSD card support.

Camera And Battery

The Nokia XL sports a 5 MP primary camera with LED flash, while the 2014 Moto G sports an improved 8 MP rear-facing unit with LED flash. Additionally, both the devices come with the same 2 MP secondary unit. When it comes to battery, the Moto G is backed by a good Li-Ion 2070 mAh unit, whereas the Nokia XL comes with a Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery unit.
