HTC Desire 820 has recently been unveiled at the IFA 2014 event, whereas the OnePlus One was released in June. It is worth mentioning that OnePlus has replaced its complicated invitation-only purchase model with the standard flash sale and pre-order model similar to Xiaomi. Display, Exterior And Size

Both phones come with the same 5.5-inch display; however, the screen resolution and display technology varies. The HTC Desire 820 comes with a LCD display packed with 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution, while the OnePlus One features a LTPS LCD display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. Additionally, the pixel densities of the Desire 820 and the OnePlus One handsets stand at 267 ppi and 401 ppi, respectively.

When it comes to design, the HTC Desire 820 is bold, bright and tailored. Specifically, HTC has used double shot colour technology to develop the two-tone colour unibody. This enhances the overall look and quality of the handset. Moreover, the phone's exterior is made of polycarbonate material, as reported by HTC. The OnePlus One is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.5 GHz and Adreno 330 for graphics. The Desire 820, on the other hand, is powered by the latest octa-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 615) SoC with a combination of four 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 cores bundled with an additional four 1.0 GHz Cortex-A53 cores and a killer Adreno 405 for graphics. While the HTC handset is backed by a 2 GB of RAM, the OnePlus One comes with a whopping 3 GB of RAM.

In addition, the OnePlus One runs on the unique combination of Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS with CyanogenMod 11S UI, while the Desire 820 runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense v6 UI. However, there is a planned upgrade to v4.4.4 available for OnePlus One. When it comes to memory, the HTC handset offers 16 GB of internal storage, whereas the OnePlus One comes with 16 GB and 64 GB of storage capacity. While the HTC smartphone supports microSD card for expansion up to 128 GB, the OnePlus One doesn't.

Camera And Battery

Both the devices sport the same 13 MP primary camera unit . However, the OnePlus handset features dual-LED flash, while the HTC device settles for LED flash. Additionally, the HTC Desire 820 houses a surprisingly good 8 MP front-facing snapper for capturing killer selfies, whereas the OnePlus One comes with a 5 MP shooter. Moreover, the OnePlus handset is backed by a killer Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery, while the HTC smartphone features a relatively inferior Li-Ion 2600 mAh battery unit.
