Lily Collins may have long been under the spotlight for her films, "Mirror Mirror", "Abduction" and the "Blind Side." Yet, nothing compares to the popularity Collins is gaining now all thanks to her portrayal of Clary Fray in "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." So, who exactly is Lily Collins and what else should everyone know about her?

Jennifer Lawrence of "The Hunger Games" was named the next Hollywood "It" Girl following the release of its film adaptation. With "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" having hit cinemas nationwide, its female protagonist Lily Collins is also set for the same path.

Daughter of famous singer, Phil Collins, Lily Collins didn't have it easy despite the big Hollywood status her father had. In every film she had starred, Lily worked as hard as any other actress.

"I firmly believe that personality opens doors, but character keeps them open. I never wanted someone to make a phone call for me [in this business]," shared Collins during her interview with Jay Leno, adding, "A lot of people don't believe me when I say that but I truly...but it took me a lot longer to get to where I am because I wanted that."

Collins also proved she isn't just another pretty face because Lily majored in journalism at USC. In fact, Lily had covered President Obama's first inauguration. Collins has works published for the Los Angeles Times Magazine, Seventeen, British Elle Girl and Teen Vogue.
