The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a one-year, $4.8 million contract with Casey McGehee making salary arbitration unnecessary. The Giants acquired the 32 year old McGehee last December 2014 hoping to find a replacement for star Pablo Sandoval at third base.

“An industry source confirmed multiple reports that McGehee, 32, will receive $4.8 million this year. He filed for $5.4 million in arbitration; the Giants countered with $4 million. McGehee's wage thus slightly exceeded the midpoint figure, where clubs and players typically compromise, of $4.7 million,” Chris Haft of MLB.com confirmed on Friday. “McGehee was the last arbitration-eligible player to come to terms with the Giants. They have not endured an arbitration hearing since 2004, when they reached an impasse with catcher A.J. Pierzynski.”

McGehee was acquired in exchange for minor league pitchers Kendry Flores and Luis Castillo in that trade. The agreement between McGehee and the Giants reportedly included award bonuses from his 2015-2016 MLB Season performance. McGehee hit .287 with 29 doubles, 76 RBIs and four home runs with the Marlins. McGehee has also suited up for the Chicago Cubs in 2008, Milwaukee Brewers in 2009 to 2011, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees in 2012 and even had a stint abroad with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in the Japan's Pacific League in 2013.

Also according to Haft, the Giants have agreed on other Giants already including Brandon Belt for $3.6 million, Gregor Blanco for $7.5 millio for two years, Brandon Crawford for $3.175 million, Travis Ishikawa for $1.1 million, Yusmeiro Petit for $2.1 million and Hector Sanchez for $800,000.

The San Francisco Giants finished the 2014 regular season with a 88-74 win-loss record to clinch a wild card spot in the National League.

S.F. then went all the way to the MLB World Series where they beat the Kansas City Royals in seven games to claim the championship.
