Texas Rangers infielder Kevin Kouzmanoff is diagnosed with a herniated disc and is scheduled to go under the knife as soon as possible, a source close to situation reported on Tuesday.

Kouzmanoff, who was batting .362 with 2 homers and 10 RBIs before the injury, received the diagnosis from back specialist Dr. Drew Dossett on Tuesday. He was suggested to undergo surgery, but he's scheduled to fly to California with the team later this week to get a second opinion.

"It's bad timing," Kouzmanoff said about his injury "It was fun. I miss these guys. I miss being in the lineup every day."

The 32-year old Kouzmanoff received an epidural shot last week, but numbness down his right leg continues to bother him. Kouzmanoff, who served as the backup for Adrian Beltre, will miss seven to 12 weeks if he undergoes surgery.
