Third baseman Manny Machado is reportedly scheduled to join the Baltimore Orioles after spending his rehab with Class-A Frederick, a reliable league source disclosed on Tuesday.

The 21-year old Machado is a career .279 with 21 homers and 97 RBIs. His presence could give the Orioles a big boost at the plate, and perhaps the finest defensive third baseman in the game.

It has been a long road to recovery for Machado, who suffered a serious back injury in September and sustained setbacks during Spring Training.

"Machado played for Frederick over the weekend. He has been rehabbing back from offseason left knee surgery after a season-ending injury suffered in late September, and he was brought along slowly this spring before a setback while running the bases slowed his timetable," via Real GM.

Machado could make his season debut when Orioles host the Pittsburgh Pirates for the first of a two-game series on Tuesday.
