After a slight lull with the well-played “Minecraft” following Microsoft’s acquisition, there are new features coming. Detailed over Mojang’s official website, Alex, a feminized skin with slimmer arms, will be debuting to all “Minecraft” console versions for free.

Speaking of skins, players of “Minecraft” PS4, PS3 and PS Vita will finally get their hands on The Simpsons skin pack, which first saw release on Xbox consoles last February. “The Simpsons” skin pack for PlayStation consoles will have the same features announced on the Xbox platforms, including the entire Simpsons family and 19 Springfield Elementary characters.

Developer 4J Studios has also announced that an update for all consoles. In line with the update announced by Mojang, there will also be new achievements coming. This was previously teased by 4J Studios using a screenshot, seen in this Twitter teaser.

Fans immediately caught on to the achievement icon onscreen. The teaser also came with an Alex toy and onscreen skin, a character who has appeared as a skin for 1.8 Update. Alex is not the first female skin to come out for “Minecraft” PC or Xbox, as clarified by Mojang’s Marc Watson clarified over his Twitter page.

“You’ve been able to change to a female skin in ‘Minecraft’ for PC the whole time, and on Xbox, female skins were added as early as pack 1,” he said.

Ars Technica reports that Alex was added via a skin pack last August for “Minecraft” PC version. Later in December, the mobile version received this feminized skin to become a default avatar option. Alex has slimmer arms compared to classic “Steve” skins, which is supported by the 1.8 version of the game.

Previously, 4J Studios has teased that after the small update coming to console versions of “Minecraft,” something bigger is already in the works. Considering the trend for “Minecraft” PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 updates, this may contain more features instead of bug fixes.

The new updates involving achievements are currently for “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition.” There will be 30 new achievements coming to “Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition” to put it at par with the Xbox One edition. This means a boost to 1000 gamerscore following the addition of achievements.

Capping off the updates, PCGamesN spotted a tweet from Mojang PC programmer Michael Stoyke. He shared that updating modes from the current 1.8 version to 1.9 won’t be as painful as rewriting the mod. Giving a teaser of what’s to come for 1.9 update, Stoyke stated that there will be new gameplay features for 1.9 update and a few internal changes, so that mods will be that much easier to update.
