In the recent Microsoft has revealed several low-priced Lumia devices such as the Lumia 640, the Lumia 435, the Lumia 532, and the Lumia 535. Microsoft has now introduced a new budget smartphone called the Lumia 540 Dual SIM.

According to WM Power User (WMPU), the Lumia 540 only costs $149 and it will be available for purchase in May in Italy, Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMAE) regions. The device has a thickness of 9.4 mm and weighs 152 g. It comes preloaded with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2.

The Lumia 540 DS comes with a 5-inch display that supports HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels along with a pixel count of 294 ppi. The device is powered by the low-end Snapdragon 800 chipset that produces a clocking speed of 1.2 GHz. The chipset is complemented by 1 GB of RAM.

The native storage of the device is 8 GB and the additional storage slot supports up to 128 GB of microSD. Microsoft is offering 30 GB of cloud storage space on OneDrive for free.

The Lumia 540 Dual SIM comes with an 8 MP rear camera along with a LED flash and autofocus. It can record videos of 848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps. The front-facing camera of the device is 5 MP along with support for wide-angle shooting. It comes with a host of connectivity featuers such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G.

The handset is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery. It is expected to deliver a 3G talk time of 14.8 hours.

Phone Arena claims that in the near future, the Lumia 540 Dual SIM will be eligible to receive the Windows 10 update. The handset is available in colour options like cyan, orange, and white and black. Microsoft has also released a video that talks about its designing of the Lumia 540 Dual SIM
