After releasing its most awaited new OS on July 29, Microsoft has now announced which devices will receive the Windows 10 update first. Over 14 million PC users have already installed the new operating system.

The software giant posted a coming soon page for Windows 10 Mobile which lists the Lumia smart phones which will be upgraded when the new OS comes out later this year. The blog says, “The following Lumia smartphones will receive a free upgrade when available: Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930.”

There are two things on Windows 10 Mobile that make Microsoft confident about the resurgence of its Windows phones. In an interview with The Verge, Terry Myerson, executive vice president, Windows and Devices Group opined about Continuum and said, “I think it is the future of the phone." Continuum will allow a Windows Phone to work as a PC with all the peripherals. One can connect a keyboard, mouse and monitor and start using Windows 10 apps. A report on Information Week says that Windows 10 Mobile will solve the app gap once and for all. Its Universal apps will attract developers to the platform and fill up the store.

Recently, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore tweeted and confirmed that the company intends to start the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program in China with Xiaomi phones in the coming weeks. There are rumors about the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, stating that the new Microsoft devices could be the first smartphones to be shipped with Windows 10. These phones are expected to sport features like Windows Hello and Continuum and could be launched in September at the IFA Expo. As reported by Tech Times, Xiaomi is reportedly working with Microsoft in developing a new tablet that runs on Windows 10. The new tablet might be announced on Aug. 16, the traditional date Xiaomi selected for the official unveiling of its new devices.
