The end of 2014 marks another main event for fans of "Metal Gear Solid" and that's the release date of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain." For all the excitement and even the doubts that "Ground Zeroes" has brought fans, there's still that one more title to look forward to.

Already, director and series creator Hideo Kojima has revealed a couple of teasers for the upcoming title. DualShockers has spotted Kojima's tweet featuring "The Phantom Pain" on the PC. His teaser is captioned "Continuing to put the game together."

But more than just the minor fixes, the source has also found Kojima's statement on what exactly "putting together a game" means. In actuality, this refers to the consolidation of everything in the game, from the characters and backgrounds to the sound and the programing, among others. It's also the definitive stage, as this is where one can see whether or not the game is what the creator wanted it to be.

In light of this, IGN has also spotted a few images of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," which is reportedly a playtest of the title on the PS4. Going by what Kojima is still currently doing for the game, the images should not be seen as among the ones to reach the final copy, as there will surely still be changes made towards the release of the game.

The Playable Modded Kojima

Nothing beats the creativity of fans-give them a model of "Metal Gear Solid" creator Kojima in the latest iteration "Ground Zeroes" and what do you get? A modded character that puts the face of Kojima to replace Snake.

This was made possible once "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" came out on Steam for the PC. Most PC titles are able to generate mods from players, and because of that, the creator of the video was able to swap the in-game model of Kojima with Snake.

With that method, Kotaku reports that other fans have been able to swap more characters and make them playable using Snake's model. Some examples are Kaz and Chico, who have their own videos, as seen in the link above. This is one way to show who's really the Big Boss in "MGSV: Ground Zeroes."

The Epic Chicken Hat

There have already been a lot of confusing, amusing and sometime just plain weird costumes in videogames. But for 2014, "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" sneak peek may take the cake with the Chicken Hat.

PlayStation Lifestyle reports that in a recent reveal via a livestream, creator Kojima has shown off the wearable chicken hat. And as ridiculous as the concept may sound, the costume actually serves a purpose, and a very useful one at that.

It appears that a chicken hat will now be made available for players of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," where those who frequently see their deaths will be given assistance-in the form of a chicken hat. What happens is that players will be given a choice of whether they want the hat. If they say yes and wear it, enemies in the game will have slower reaction times. The only tradeoff? The humiliation of wearing the thing.

There's also the benefit of seeing Snake wearing the chicken hat during cutscenes. And the additional bonus of it glowing in the dark, if you can find some use for that feature. That's something to look forward to in 2015 once "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" comes out.
