Students Walk Out Of Samsung Electronics' Headquarters In Seoul
Students walk out of Samsung Electronics' headquarters in Seoul July 7, 2014. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd on Tuesday said operating profit likely fell 24.5 percent in April-June, its lowest in two years due to slowing growth in the company's cash cow smartphone business and the strength of the South Korean won. Samsung recently stated that the upcoming additions to the Galaxy A series of smartphones dubbed Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 will be released in November. However, the company also stated that it would be a limited release pertaining to selected markets, including China. Meanwhile, a recent report states that the South Korea based conglomerate is hit with production issues.

According to the latest news, the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 will be released in Asia as promised earlier, however, there is no surety on other regions. This change in plan is because Samsung is facing problems with manufacturing the Galaxy A line-ups. Predominantly due to the all-metal, unibody design requirement of the two handsets. In specific, both Galaxy A3 and A5 are hit with low production yields, says Phone Arena.

Apparently, only a total of nearly 50 percent of the manufactured phones have met Samsung's quality standards. Looking back at the history of Samsung, the company has not produced a lot of metal-clad phones. And this inexperience could be the cause of the existing woes in production, opines the same site. On the other hand, the company has mastered the usage of plastic/polycarbonate material with its umpteen releases this year. Notably, in 2014, Samsung released two phones with metallic frame covering the plastic phone and they are the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Alpha. Specifically, the Galaxy Alpha was aimed to take Apple iPhone 6 with the same 4.7-inch display and no microSD card support.

Moving on to the key specifications, the Galaxy A5 and the Galaxy A3 will feature ultra-thin profile with a thickness of only 6.7 mm and 6.9 mm, respectively. The A5 and A3 will come with (5.0-inch display and 720 x 1,280 pixels resolution) and (4.5-inch display and 540 x 960 pixels resolution), respectively. Under the hood, the handsets will be powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 410) processor with Android v4.4.4 KitKat OS taking care of the software side.

When it comes to camera, the A3 will sport an 8 MP rear-facing unit with LED flash, whereas the A5 will come with a solid 13 MP unit with LED flash. In addition, there will be a surprisingly good 5 MP snapper housed at the front of both the handsets. Also, the A5 and A3 will be backed by 2 GB and 1 GB of RAM configurations, respectively. Moving on to the internal storage, both the devices will come equipped with 16 GB memory with expandable storage option. On battery, the A3 and A5 will house 1,900 mAh and 2,300 mAh units, respectively.

Speaking of price, Samsung has not revealed the pricing details yet, however, sources say the handsets might be priced more than $400 and the Galaxy A3 will be cheaper than the A5.
