Melissa Rivers is going to be the new co-host of “Fashion Police.” She would be stepping into her mother Joan Rivers’ shoes, after the legendary comedian passed away a year ago.

Melissa Rivers, who is also “Fashion Police” executive producer will be coming back with hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski on the infamous E show this summer as a host herself. Speaking with People Magazine, Melissa said she is quite apprehensive of what would happen. Even though she is a performer in her own right, Melissa said she still needs to find her own voice as a solo act now that her mom is gone, which could be terrifying. She said she cannot compare with Joan because she is “a different person from a different place,” and added that she needs some time to sort it all out.

These anxieties aside, Melissa is not setting out to disappoint however. Even though she never intended to have a panelist position in the show, Melissa said she has high hopes for the show and great plans for it to go back to its roots of being funny.”

It can be remembered that the on the last season of “Fashion Police,” the season without Joan Rivers, the show had been wracked with one controversy after another, which ultimately ended in the show’s hosts Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin’s leaving of the show. The controversies allegedly started with Giuliana Rancic’s comments about Zendaya Coleman’s hair, which the young star deemed as being racist and ignorant instead of funny.

Melissa herself already spoke about those controversies and departures, stating they are normal because her mother, a very prominent figure on the show, passed away. She added that as the executive producer, she already did everything in her power to correct the situations. She said it was difficult for her because she always need to keep an eye on the franchise and the business side of things and not be entangled with the controversies herself. She also clarified that even with her role as an executive producer, the network still make the final decisions with regard the show.
