Joan Rivers still looked her best when she was in a coma last year because her daughter Melissa made sure of it. Her makeup and hair were still being done while she was in a coma, apart from being dressed with her pretty outfits.

In an interview with Dr. Oz (via US Weekly), which would be aired on Wednesday, May 13, Melissa shared that her mom looked presentable and her usual self on her final days. When she got into a coma after a botched routine procedure, Melissa said she made sure that her mom would look amazing and glowing when everybody came to say their farewells. "We brought in everything from our night tables, and then our friend went and we got all of her own bedding and her favorite pretty lounge-y outfit, and I brought in hair and makeup … and they washed her hair and they did her [makeup], and she looked amazing,” Melissa explained.

She said at the trying moment, she was doing her best to be cheerful about the situation. She said the legendary comedienne’s skin looked amazing and added that her mom’s best friend even noticed. "Joan, your skin is so good. Wake up, you have to see this,” the best friend kept saying, making Melissa laugh at the time when she felt like crying.

She added that her mom would have probably clucked about all the extra attention that she was getting at the time, but as her daughter, she made sure her mom felt loved even during her final days because it was not something the talk show host usually felt before getting into the coma. She said her mom would have said all the primping and tearful goodbyes she got was “ridiculous” and nobody should waste their time for her. Melissa added Joan’s friends also needed that private time with her.

Melissa, who is still grieving over her loss, recently shared that she is still angry with the clinic that was responsible for the operation that landed Joan into a coma. She said the accident, and subsequently, the death of her mother, could have been 100 percent prevented.
