New chief White House strategist Stephen K Bannon has quoted that the media is the “opposition party” of the Donald Trump administration. Bannon has advised the media to keep its mouth shut and that it should feel embarrassed and humiliated.

During an American press interview on Wednesday evening, Trump’s adviser said the media don’t understand the country, and still do not understand why his client is the now the leader of the free world.

“I want you to quote this. The media here is the opposition party," Bannon said. Bannon has shared his assessment amid high tension between the news media and the current administration with debates about the size of crowd during the Trump inauguration.

Meanwhile, Bannon had nothing but praises for press secretary Sean M Spicer, saying his actions are a badge of honour. He stressed that the press should not question Spicer’s integrity because it is the media that has “zero integrity, zero intelligence, and no hard work.”

Last week, Spicer has accused the press of faking Trump inauguration's low attendance. He maintained that the media utilised misrepresentative photographs to lessen the people’s enthusiasm for the recently held inauguration and called the attempts shameful and wrong.

The president has assigned Bannon in implementing the nationalist vision that Trump promised during the latter months of the 2016 presidential campaign. He clearly shares Trump’s opinion that the news media do not understand the movement that the president rode into office.

Bannon, like Trump, is a Washington outsider who has never been elected to office. He is chairman of a controversial website called Breitbart News that is known for offensive headlines like “Bill Kristol: Republican Spoiler, Renegade Jew,” “Trannies 49 Xs Higher HIV Rate,” and “Birth Control Makes Women Unattractive and Craz,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a site promotes racist, anti-Muslim, and anti-immigrant ideas.
