'Married at First Sight' season 4 episode 1 recap: Nick’s marriage might get smoked, Heather gets a little too emotional

The fourth season of the hit reality TV series “Married at First Sight” debuted with six singles looking for the one they would spend forever with. The show followed them all the way to their weddings, but a lot of twists and turns happened before some of them have even seen each other.
In the first episode, the audience was not only introduce d to new searchees, but to new experts who would comment on the budding relationships . These include Pastor Calvin Roberson and communications expert Rachel DeAlto.
First up, the audience is introduced to Sonia and Nick. Sonia Granados w as torn by her parents’ divorce and is now looking for love. Her husband to be , Nick Pendergrast , is still recovering from the trauma caused by the death of his aunt. Their common value for family and similar ambitions led to their being matched. While things were about to go smooth, Nick’s apparent addiction to smoking might get in the way of his upcoming wedding.
Next, Heather Seidel and Navy veteran Derek Schwartz are paired up. The couple was matched due to similarities in their thinking patterns and quiet temperaments. On the wedding day, Derek tells his friends about how excited he is to cuddle with his wife. Heather , on the other hand , gets a little too excited while she sheds some tears.
Last come Lillian Vilchez and Tom Wilson. They were matched due to their similarities in their entrepreneurial spirit with the hopes that they will motivate one another. While Lilian goes shopping, her mother axes a dress which has pearls because such is a bad omen in their native Nicaragua. The groom , however , does not know this and sends his to-be-wife some pearls as a wedding gift. Lilian gets torn as she does not want to offend him.
“Married at First Sight” is an A ustralian reality show that features couples matched by experts who agree to immediately marry each other when they first meet. It airs Tuesdays at 7:30/8:30c at the FYI channel.
