Former Formula One star Australian racing driver Mark Webber has survived a horrific high-speed crash at the Six Hours of Sao Paolo event on Nov. 30. Webber's car reportedly collided with the Ferrari being driven by Matteo Cressoni.

According to a statement posted on his official Web site, Webber stayed at a local hospital after the crash. He thanked the medical team who gave him prompt and immediate care on the site of the accident. Webber also expressed his gratitude to the medical staff that assisted him during his stay at the hospital.

Brazilian racing driver Rubens Barrichello paid Webber a visit at the hospital. Barrichello also shared a picture with Webber on Instagram.

Webber said that he had no recollection of how the crash happened. He said that his team is already trying to gather details to find out what caused the accident. Webber used to race for Red Bull. He joined the Porsche team in the Endurance series, where he finished ninth overall, after his 12-year career in Formula One. He ended his Formula One career in 2013.

Often, most race car drivers are still willing to continue to race despite getting involved in bad crashes on the track. Webber is no different. The 38-year-old Australian is still looking forward to racing again in 2015.

"On a positive note, it's great that the boys in car no. 14 managed to bring home the victory which is a fantastic way to finish off the season," Webber said in the statement. "I'm already looking forward to getting out there again next year."

Neel Jani won the race, giving Porsche its first overall victory in the FIA World Endurance Championship. It was the first time that Porsche had won in a long distance sports car race in 15 years.

Meanwhile, Cressoni, who was involved in Webber's crash, has escaped serious injuries. He was checked at the scene, but was cleared by the medical personnel.

The footage of Webber's crash instantly went viral online. The video shows both Webber and Cressoni's cars crashing into the concrete barriers at very high speeds. Webber's car caught fire before it came into a halt. Webber's car looked completely wrecked after the crash. Watch the video below.
