Sebastian Vettel has revealed in a recent interview how touching it was for him to present the award for Michael Schumacher at the 66th Bambi Awards, which is the oldest media awards in Germany. The awards ceremony honours personalities, both German and foreign, for their excellence in media and television.

Vettel made a special appearance at the 2014 Bambi Awards held at the Stage Theatre am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin on Nov. 13, 2014. The four-time Formula One, or F1 champion came on stage to present the award and a delivery a speech for his former role model Schumacher.

"Michael, you have sparked Formula 1 fever in so many people, not just me," Vettel said in his speech. "You have revolutionized Formula 1."

In an interview with Swiss newspaper SonntagsBlick, Vettel said it was "touching" to speak about Schumacher, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation after he suffered brain injuries in a skiing crash in December. Vettel felt emotional because of the fact that Schumacher is currently battling a big fight and cannot even come to accept the award.

It was hard for Vettel to deliver his speech even though he spent hours practicing what he was going to say when he came on stage. The 27-year-old F1 racer said that he practiced his speech while inside his car, in the airplane, and even during bedtime. One person reportedly suggested for him to just read the speech from a teleprompter, but he declined. Vettel's speech has not only touched the audience, but also the people watching on their television sets.
