Maria Shriver has made a choice not every woman would do when her marriage goes sour: to find a home near her ex.

A report by Radar Online notes that the former TV journalist has already started renovations on her $10 million home in Brentwood, California. Shriver has reportedly opted to purchase a place in exactly the same community where her soon-to-be ex-husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger lives.

The source privy to the situation told the entertainment Web site that Shriver’s decision was made for her children’s sake, particularly the young ones.

"Maria is eager to move into the new home but they're still doing construction on it and she's put it on the backburner lately because Christopher is her priority," a source told RadarOnline.com.

The unnamed source added that Shriver has only seen the progress of the renovations Tuesday after her son Christopher was released from the hospital Monday due to a serious boogie-boarding accident.

"The close proximity of Shriver and Schwarzenegger will ensure an easy transition between homes for the couple's two minor children, Christopher and Patrick," a source told Pop Eater cited by Celeb.Gather.com.

Shriver now owns a new 11,000 square-foot, eight bedroom, seven bathroom home in Brentwood to make it more convenient for their children to commute as they visit the estranged couple.
