Madonna has spoken candidly about her marriage with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. The 56-year-old singer does not have great memories about the time spent with the British director and said she felt "incarcerated" during those seven years she was with him. Despite feeling trapped in her marriage, the pop diva is still open to the idea of getting married again, if she finds the “right” kind of guy.

“There were many times when I wanted to express myself as an artist in ways that I don’t think my ex-husband felt comfortable with,” the “Rebel Heart” singer said in an exclusive interview with The Sun newspaper [via E Online]. Madonna was married to Ritchie from 2000 to 2008. The couple has a son Rocco, 14, together. They also adopted two children, David and Mercy, both nine.

"There were times when I felt incarcerated. I wasn’t really allowed to be myself,” said the singer while reflecting on the times she spent with Ritchie. The “Like a Virgin” singer however accepts the fact that compromise is needed for the marriage to succeed.

Madonna also told the newspaper that her failed marriage to Ritchie has not shaken her belief in the institution of marriage and she does not consider it a “bad thing.” But for an artist like her, it is really important to stay with a man who us "accepts who you are and is comfortable with that." The singer also hinted that she will never say no to getting married again.

When Madonna and Ritchie got divorced in 2008, the British director told Mirror in an earlier interview that Madonna had lost her sense of fun, hence he wanted to get out of the relationship. He also added that the singer was obsessed with her “public image” and “being seen as some kind of global soothsayer,” while he just wanted a “regular husband and wife thing.” Ritchie is now happily engaged to model Jacqui Ainsley and has three children with her.

Madonna dropped “Rebel Heart,” her thirteenth studio album March 6, 2015. According to Official Charts, Madonna is leading the charts to score her twelfth UK Number 1 studio album this week. “Rebel Hearts” has 12,700 combined chart sales and is competing with Sam Smith’s album “In The Lonely Hour” for number one spot.
