Political espionage and a mole are the new challenges Elizabeth McCord has to face in "Madam Secretary" episode 3. Her relation with the Chief of Staff, Russell Jackson, is still tense while she continues to find ways to solve problems by thinking out of the box.

Elizabeth McCord has to face the press in "Madam Secretary" episode 3. One of the journalists has evidence of U.S spying on France and other allies. She is confronted about the issue by the journalist at a press conference.

The evidence of U.S spying on other nations has been leaked by a mole in U.S Department of State. The man who goes by the pseudonym of Viper used to work for the Bureau of Intelligence and Research but left five months prior to the leaks. The information he leaks to the press could jeopardise U.S covert operations across the globe.

Elizabeth McCord wants to highlight the threat to national security by the leaks. Once again the President and the Chief of Staff want her to handle it diplomatically. In the previous episode of "Madam Secretary" the political leadership refused to listen to Elizabeth to send additional security forces to protect a Diplomat in Yemen, the situation quickly spiralled out of control and Elizabeth was proven right in her assessment.

This time again the President and the Chief of Staff want Elizabeth to find a diplomatic solution to the leaks. A man's life hangs in the balance in "Madam Secretary" episode 3. The promo video shows Elizabeth saying that the man may be executed if he gets caught.

Another challenge for Elizabeth in the upcoming episode is to let go of one of her trusted employees. Jay Whitman, played by Sebastian Arcelus, may have to quit his job as soon as Elizabeth finds a replacement.

Things have settled down at the home front for Elizabeth. Her daughter, who was in news for organising a protest, has quit college and is looking for a job. She shows tremendous integrity by not using Elizabeth's position to land a lucrative job. Meanwhile the death of her friend, George, is still being considered an accident.

"Madam Secretary" episode 3 airs on Oct 5, 2014. Some of the cast members of the TV show include Keith Carradine as President Conrad Dalton, Bebe Neuwirth as Nadine Tolliver, Marin Hinkle as Isabelle.
