Lorde clarifies she wasn’t throwing shade at Kendall Jenner, Harry Styles or other stars through her St. Barts Instagram post

Lorde’s New Year Instagram post has attracted a lot of attention from fans, but the singer clarified that she wasn’t throwing shade at anyone.

The “Royals” singer took to the social media site over the New Year weekend where she uploaded a snap of a painting which featured a girl holding on to the handrails onboard a yacht, E!News reported. She wrote a lengthy note on Instagram which mentioned how her social media feed was filled with news of celebrities enjoying a beach holiday in locations such as St. Barts.

Lorde’s full Instagram message read, “When you scroll through your feed and all the pretty famous boys and girls are on yachts or in saint barth's and you're at home where it's raining and you've never even been on a holiday to another country before. Never been to a tropical island let alone saint barth's and actually you aren't even sure if you're spelling saint barth's right."

This gained mixed reactions from fans, in which a few speculated that she was throwing shade at stars such as Kendall Jenner and One Direction band member Harry Styles, E!News stated. The two celebrities were seen enjoying the New Year holidays on board a private yacht. Apart from Jenner and Styles, Justin Bieber also spent the holidays in the Caribbean with his family and model Hailey Baldwin.

However, Lorde took to Instagram to add a quick note to her original post to clarify that she was not throwing shade or implicating anyone in her message. She wrote, “lol no 'shade' folks if i were on an island or in even nearish proximity to a yacht you would be hearing all the fuck about it just making fun of my own lameness.”

Meanwhile, apart from her Instagram post, Lorde also took to Twitter on New Year’s eve to share how she celebrated the festive holidays. She stated on the social media site, “spent new year's eve with two tiny cute girls we played disney board games and talked about their teachers/dream pets/favourite books lol.”

Lorde managed to bring great cheer to her fans after she hinted about her highly anticipated upcoming album on Twitter.
