Liverpool are reported to be joining Manchester United and Borussia Monchengladbach in chasing the signature of Bayer Leverkusen defensive midfielder Christoph Kramer, according to the Metro.

The German international's commitment with his mother club is due to expire at the end of the 2014/15 season and will be eligible to move on a free-transfer.

However, it is suggested that Gladbach - who are currently holding him on loan - will try to sneak behind other interested parties by making the deal permanent in January.

Meanwhile, the Reds and United will expectedly lure the 23-year-old with higher wages, should he fail to pen an extension with Bayer before the final six months of his contract, pursuant to the Bosman ruling.

Kramer only won his first cap this year, but has gone all the way to represent the World Cup-winning Germany squad.

His impressive form at club level earned him three appearances in Brazil, which includes a start against Argentina during the finals that unfortunately ended after 31 minutes due to a head injury.
