Arsenal have reportedly successfully lured Borussia Dortmund to hand over their prized-asset Marco Reus next summer.

Caughtoffside suggests that a sum of £15million plus Lukas Podolski, who has found himself at the bottom of the pecking order amongst attackers, will be the primary consideration that the north Londoners will be willing to hand out for the German ace.

The 25-year-old has cemented himself as one of the most deadly inside forwards in the game, predominantly deployed on the left flank; he has a natural instinct of cutting into the middle of the pitch to find the back of the net or create opportunities for his teammates.

Reus' 2013/14 statline with BVB is more than impressive. He was able to tally 23 goals coupled with the same number of assists.

On one hand, the Gunners have shown their intent to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe as far as signings are concerned, acquiring world-class names in the form of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez during the two previous offseasons, respectively.

On the other hand, Dortmund has shown failure to hold on to their stars in recent years. Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski, Nuri Sahin, and Shinji Kagawa all left Westfalenstadion, with the latter two deciding to rejoin Die Schwarzgelben after failed stints with other top clubs.
