Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana believes that former teammate at Southampton and fellow transferee Rickie Lambert will be able to turn the tides in his favour sooner rather than later.

The 32-year-old striker has yet to break his Reds duck since moving to Anfield last summer, but his lack of output upfront can be attributed to his lack of game time, as he has only started three games, one in the Premier League and two in the Capital One Cup.

Nevertheless, Lallana is optimistic that the England international, who received his first call-up from the national side as a 31-year-old and thereafter making his debut, will make the most out of his chances.

"I speak to Rickie a lot, and I've had the privilege of playing with him for the last four or five years," said Lallana.

"We knew it was never going to be easy, moving clubs and coming into a team that people expect a lot from. But I can assure you that we're both working hard day in, day out."

"When Rickie gets his chance, I'm sure he's going to take it. I'm sure there's a goal or two around the corner for him; it's the same with any striker, you want to be on the pitch as much as possible. People judge you on scoring goals."
