“The Librarians” showrunner Dean Devlin has teased fans about what’s in store for the team of heroes in season 3. Devlin pointed out the “magic is back in the world.” He also praised the cast, specifically Christian Kane.

The show is currently in its third season and had featured perhaps its most dangerous villain yet in Apep. That is no less than the god of chaos and outright evil. Fans could not help but worry about the protagonists and Devlin wants to set realistic expectations.

“We made a conscious decision to up the stakes.” Devlin told Kathleen Wiedel of TV Fanatic.

The showrunner assured viewers of “The Librarians” that despite the twists and turns the characters face, it is the same show that fans have gotten used to. He said that the only difference is that this time, there are higher stakes for the characters.

Devlin hinted that the main characters will have to deal with temptations. “Magic is back in the world,” he said. His statement seems to suggests that the Librarians will be put to test as they face temptations and consequences of using magic.

On the same interview with TV Fanatic, the showrunner did not miss the chance to praise “The Librarians” cast. He particularly pointed out Kane’s performance. “Christian Kane really brought the goods!,” he remarked.

Devlin and Kane already got the chance to work alongside each other in the past for “Leverage,” which ran from 2008 to 2012.

The showrunner did not mention about new characters arriving, but avid viewers can be in the lookout.

“The Librarians” is a spinoff of a television movie series which stars Noah Wyle. The original series was released in 2004. Wyle reprised his role for the current TV series in a recurring capacity. He has also written and directed some episodes.

The Australian TV series airs on Sundays at 8/7c on TNT.
