Lewis Hamilton took a giant stride toward this year's world title after he clinched his fifth consecutive record-breaking victory in the United States Grand Prix. Hamilton was able to overtake his teammate Nico Rosberg for the second time in three years to win and lead the race for the championship.

Hamilton is now the most successful Briton in Formula One in terms of race wins, ahead of 1992 champion Nigel Mansell. Moreover, his 10th victory was also the most recorded by a non-German driver.

Following his achievements, Hamilton was coined as the Jedi Knight of the Formula One. "I like the Jedi Knight reference, that's cool," said Hamilton, according to The Economic Times. He also talked about the importance of doing homework before a race. "Before a race there's a lot you can do to really understand what opportunities could come up and, in different scenarios, how you approach it."

Apart from outscoring Rosberg by 10 wins to four this season, Hamilton also surpassed Nigel Mansell's record of 32 wins in Britain's Formula One race winning records. Hamilton expressed his delight to hold the most Formula One wins for a British driver. He is grateful to his team and his car that helped him reach his landmark so quickly.

Nigel Mansell took to Twitter to praise Hamilton for his new record, saying:

Brilliant for Lewis and Merc.Nico put up a strong fight but Lewis did a fantastic job many Congratulations 5 wins on trot 32 Wins altogether

Thus far, although Hamilton leads Rosberg by 31 points, the deficit might still not be enough. However, thanks to the Formula One ringmaster Bernie Ecclestone, the upcoming race on Nov. 23 that will be held on Abu Dhabi will count for double points. In the event that Hamilton fails to finish the race and Rosberg finishes second or first, the 29-year-old will not have the championship.

According to Daily Star, the Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff is pretty laidback about the scenario. He thinks that the last race having double points has the potential to overshadow the entire season. He said that the double points in the last race could totally change the outcome of the championship. But then again, he further claimed that it is pretty satisfying that only a Mercedes driver can take home the championship from this point forward.
